Caring for your Pilea peperomioides Chinese Money Plant

  • Provide bright light. Direct a.m. light and diffuse or dappled p.m. sun are both great options. Very intense direct sun can damage the leaves.
  • Allow the potting mix to dry throughout the pot between waterings. The leaves will droop slightly when it’s ready for water.
  • Rotate weekly for even growth.
  • Fertilize once in spring and once during the summer with an all-purpose organic indoor fertilizer or use a liquid fertilizer when you water spring through summer.
  • When “pups” grow, you can leave them to create a more full pot, or remove them when they are a few inches tall by cutting the pup's stem at least an inch below the potting mix as close to the mother as possible and placing it in water for rooting to start another plant.
